Dr. Julia Velten obtained her PhD from the Ruhr-University Bochum in Germany in 2016. She completed her training as a cognitive-behavioral therapist in 2013. She worked as a Clinical Psychologist in various in- and outpatient clinics treating patients with eating disorders, affective disorders, and sexual difficulties. Since 2012 she has been working as a Faculty Member and PhD student at the Mental Health Research and Treatment Center at the Ruhr-University Bochum in Germany. From April to December 2016, she is working as a Visiting Scholar and Postdoctoral Fellow with Dr. Lori Brotto in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of British Columbia. Her research interests include the investigation of sexual response patterns in women with and without sexual difficulties. In her research, she also focuses on the evaluation of sexual excitation and sexual inhibition as predictors of women’s sexual health.
